Wicked food at Kitchen in West Wickham

If you find yourself at London Bridge station you could do a lot worse than take a quick trip to West Wickham (take the Hayes train).

Go with an appetite and make sure you visit Kitchen at West Wickham. This charming little restaurant is located on the bustling high street not far from the small station and is usually fairly busy.

Wait to be seated (or ask for takeaway) and settle into the warm, family atmosphere with vintage-style decor complete with movie and culture posters.

The service at Kitchen is prompt, friendly and professional. Take your time to look over the reasonably large menu with it's all day breakfast options and make your choice, punk.

On our first visit we got takeaway, both opting for the infamous triple stack breakfast. This consisted of three fried eggs (not runny though), three American style pancakes and three rashers of bacon plus copious amounts of good quality maple syrup. As the appointed one I also got a sweet Turkish coffee which was excellent.

The triple stack was awe inspiring. The eggs were creamy and yellow. The pancakes the right side of fluffy. And the bacon crispy and tasty.

To say the meal kept us going for some time would be an understatement.

To add to the delights, and ostensibly for lunch I also ordered the Turkish breakfast minus a couple of ingredients. when the friendly feisty one finally got around to eating the dish she declared the black olives to be tart and delicious, the halloumi pleasingly sweet, squeaky and salty and the salad more than adequate. Finished off with top notch salami, baked baguette and onion relish it was a thing of beauty desperate for a shag.

So shag it she did.

On our next visit it was properly lunchtime so I plumped for the chicken shish and a corona (no lime was available).

This was a masterstroke by me. The chicken was succulent, and unusually marinated in a tomato and onion sauce with peppers. A baked tortilla came with the chicken thoughtfully wrapped in it. The crispy edges caressing the poultry better than Clark Gable's tash. The dish was triumphantly completed with a tzatziki dip which i made good use of.

The friendly feisty one opted for the Popeye's dream wrap. Another tortilla contained a mixture of mozzarella, peppers, tomatoes etc. complete with fries and extra salad. The fizzy coke helped to wash it all down.

The friendly feisty one's mum enjoyed the  mixed grill, a plethora of meats.

Plus another coke. Which was indeed it.

Did we have room for dessert, did we fuck? I had the toffee cheesecake. mmmmm is all I can say to that and the friendly feisty one's mum had the lemon cheesecake. INalso partook in a double espresso just like mama used to make.

On our third but by no means last visit the friendly feisty one went rather predictably for the Popeye's dream once more. I had the chicken shish again (one rule or me another for her).

The bill was very reasonable on all occasions and the warm and attentive staff received a good tip for their trouble.

Get me down to the kitchen city where the halloumi sweet and the chicken lickin.
